THE NORWEGIAN DIRECTORATE OF IMMIGRATION (UDI)

Most foreign workers need a permit to work in Norway. The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration's (UDI) is responsible for processing applications for work and residence permits. UDI has gathered all relevant information about these subjects on www.udi.no/work


The site also includes information about the groups which are exempted from the requirement to obtain a work permit, such as Nordic citizens. Please note that separate rules apply for applicants from EU/EEA/EFTA countries

THE NORWEGIAN LABOUR AND WELFARE ADMINISTRATION (NAV)

www.nav.no

 

NAV provides jobseekers with practical information about how to apply for jobs, as well as information about working and living conditions in Norway. NAV’s  portal is Norway's main public database for jobseekers. Most of the vacancies are written in Norwegian, but you can also find a number of vacancies in English. The vacancies can also be found on the EURES Job Mobility Portal.

 

A large number of available jobs are advertised through other channels like newspapers, company websites and internet databases such as www.finn.no. You can also search the Norwegian yellow pages www.gulesider.no in both Norwegian and English to find recruitment agencies or relevant businesses to contact directly.

SERVICE CENTRE FOR FOREIGN WORKERS

The Labour Inspection Authority, the Police, the Tax Administration and the Directorate of Immigration have established a joint Service Centre for Foreign Workers in Norway.  The Service Centre was established to aid EU/EEA citizens whose main purpose of staying in Norway is employment, and qualified skilled workers or specialist from outside the EU/EEA. NEW IN NORWAY

"Ny i Norge" provides information for various groups of recently arrived immigrants, as well as asylum seekers and reception residents.  The website is run by Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) and offers practical information on a variety of topics, including Norwegian language courses, the education system, healthcare services and questions related to working in Norway. INTERNATIONAL NETWORK OF NORWAY

International Network of Norway (INN) is a division of the Chambers of Commerce that offers tailor-made programs for expatriates and their families to make the transition to Norway as smooth as possible. Your employer can select suitable packages from the Relocation Program, but also sign you up for the Expat Support Program.
