Welcome to the Fjord City

Oslo is continuing on its most adventurous harbour renewal project ever, as a string of waterfront properties in the heart of the city are put up for sale and rezoned for urban development. Among the port capitals of Europe, Oslo stands out in undertaking such a comprehensive revitalization of its downtown waterfront. The aim is to reconnect the city with the sea, providing residents and visitors alike with a unique and sustainable quality of life.

Filipstad and Tjuvholmen

Filipstad is situated near the attractive Skillebekk neighbourhood and borders the popular Aker Brygge residential, business and shopping quarter, and the Tjuvholmen development zone. An open peninsula in the centre of Pipervika bay, Tjuvholmen lies just south of already developed Aker Brygge and near City Hall and downtown.

Bjørvika and the new Opera House

Bjørvika is situated between the ruins of medieval Oslo and the vibrant city centre. Ekeberg with its wide-open natural and park lands rises up to the south, and richly textured inner-city Oslo to the east. Southwest-facing with attractive vistas of the fjord, Bjørvika is also home to Oslo's spectacular new Opera House.

Other areas

Several of the properties in the Fjord City project are scheduled for development in the near future. The new port area will open up for further development as port activities are moved south of the city and consolidated in a single, modern facility.
