Filipstad
Area: 32 hectares
Filipstad is south-facing with an attractive view of the Oslo Ford archipelego. Filipstad forms an important part of the Fjord City vision as an attractive seaside multi-use area. Filipstad has a newly reinforced quayside capable of supporting residential construction.
The container port at Filipstad was moved south of the city to Sjursøya in January 2008, but Filipstad is still home to warehouses and dry goods handling. NSB (Norwegian State Railways) maintains goods and holding yards in the area. One of Oslo's two international ferry terminals, located at Hjortnes, has been expanded to accommodate new cruise class ferries serving the Oslo-Kiel route.
The Fjord City plan suggests development of the area as downtown Oslo's recreational center. This includes mixed-use solutions with significant areas dedicated to housing, public parks, commercial properties and an expanded ferry terminal, all served by a new tram line. Development options involve consideration of routing the E18 motorway through a tunnel.
Tjuvholmen
Area: 3.3 hectares (5.1 after completion)
The former port area has been sold to private developers and is currently under construction. The first inhabitants moved in at the end of summer of 2007. Approximately 900 new homes in several price ranges are being offered, one third of these rental properties. The focus is on creating attractive settings that take advantage of the sunny location and proximity to the water.
Selvaag Gruppen AS and Aspelin-Ramm Gruppen AS have taken over ownership and are developing Tjuvholmen for recreational, cultural, commercial and residential use in collaboration with selected architects, including Renzo Piano from Italy, chosen to compliment the main design from Niels Torp Arkitekter.

The new Tjuvholmen will consist of two sectors:
Tjuvholmen – a small peninsula as an extension of Aker Brygge, with offices, houses, hotels, shops and restaurants. Development will be situated along a canal with houses along the waterline, bridge Connections to Filipstad, quayside activities and the "Exploria" activity centre.
The art center – a small man-made island incorporating a park landscape with sculptures, and a new museum in collaboration with the Danish Louisiana Museum of Modern Art.
Construction commenced in 2005, with completion scheduled for 2012.
