The Norwegian EXPO Pavilion came a shuffle of earth closer to it realization this week. Norway’s Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry, Miss Rikke Lind shuffled the first symbolic spade of earth at Norway’s Expo Cite in Shanghai.

With the concept, ‘Norway Powered By Nature’, Norway aims to be the one country that brings nature into the city. Thus addressing the theme of EXPO 2010 ‘Better City, Better Life’

- This World EXPO is very exciting. The theme of the Shanghai EXPO, Better City Better Life, is both timely and important, and with a clear, universal element. For Norway this World EXPO suits our national and international priorities very well, says Miss Rikke Lind.

Norway’s pavilion will consist of 15 highly stylized model trees in laminated wood that complete the whole pavilion. In Norway forests are a sustainable resource. The model trees which are also the pavilions load bearing structures are currently under production in Norway and will hopefully reach Shanghai by ship in August.

- I am very pleased to see that we are on track and ready to start the construction work.
We truly believe that our pavilion will introduce a new way of thinking about architecture, says Commissioner General for Norway, Arild Blixrud.

Norway will use the World EXPO to showcase concepts and thinking on sustainability, energy effiency and a healthy way of life. Architects Helen & Hard, a young and innovative architect company from Stavanger in Norway, won the contest to draw Norway’s pavilion.
The framework of the exhibition inside the pavilion will be different Norwegian landscapes; the coast, the forest, the fjords and mountains.

Norway at EXPO 2010 is currently working where hard on the exhibition inside the pavilion.

- Until the last details have been finalized the details of our content will be a well kept secret, says General Commissioner Arild Blixrud.
