Oslo Days in St Petersburg

A piece of Oslo was taken to St. Petersburg, Russia, when Oslo City Council, Visit Oslo, and Innovation Norway in cooperation with the administration of St. Petersburg City hosted the Oslo Days on 1-10 May 2009.

Vice Mayor of the City of Oslo Mrs Aud Kvalbein inaugurated the days at the official opening ceremony of the exhibition on the 5th of May, followed by speeches by First Vice Governor of the City of St. Petersburg Mr Alexander Vachmistrov and Consul General of Norway in St. Petersburg Mr Rune Aasheim. A mini-concert by Norwegian band Valkyrien Allstars was very well received by the audience, which counted more than 200 invited guests.
The program included the exhibition "Oslo - The Fjord City Expo" in the Etnographic Museum in the heart of the City and several professional seminars within the following sectors: tourism and travel, cooperation between educational institutions, urban development and water treatment, cultural exchange, business development as well as some other events.

Oslo Teknopol, in cooperation with St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Innovation Norway and Norwegian Russian Chamber of Commerce, organised an Innovation Seminar presenting the innovations strategy and clusters in the Oslo Region. The seminar was opened by Vice Mayor Mrs Kvalbein followed by speeches from City Commissioner on Business and Sports Mrs Anette Wiig Bryn and the President of St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr Vladimir Katenev.

The seminar included presentations by Managing Director of Oslo Teknopol Mr Knut Halvorsen, Acting Manager of Oslo Maritime Network Mr Kevin Gallagher, Managing Director of MareLife Mr Øystein Lie, Head of Representative office of Tschudi Shipping Company AS in St. Petersburg Mr Tulupnikov, as well as presentations by two NRCC representatives, Norwegian-Russian Business Relations by Mr Vladimir Bagreev, Head of NRCC Representative Office in Russia and Norwegian-Russian Cultural Differences by Ms Katerina Smetanina, NRCC, Oslo.
The seminar was attended by more than 100 representatives of Russian companies and organisations.
