Oslo Music Metropole is formally established

Oslo’s live music scene is heaving, and to make sure all involved can make the most out of their hard work and enthusiasm, the organisation Oslo Music Metropole was formally established on 1 December 2009.

Behind the organisation are the organisers of big festivals such as Oya and by:Larm, as well as Oslo Music Council, Schous Culture Brewery and Oslo Teknopol. The work has been running as a project all through 2009, since a seminar was organised during by:Larm in February, focussing on the very vibrant music scene in Oslo.

One of the first main projects for Oslo Music Metropole will be the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2010. Thousands of journalists and music enthusiasts are expected to descend on the city, and the challenge for the new organisation is to demonstrate that music in Oslo has extremely much to offer. The establishing of Oslo Music Metropole shows that an important part of the creative businesses in Oslo is now geared up and ready for the party to begin.
