Oslo rates a place among the world’s best in biotech

Genome Technology Magazine has named Oslo as one of the global hot-spots in Biotechnology, along side such heavyweights as Boston and San Francisco.

“It’s certainly not the biggest biotech cluster, but the efforts to cement a biotech segment here in Norway are impressive,” reads the review of Oslo and Norway. Oslo Cancer Cluster, established in 2006 as a Norwegian Center of Expertise, also received special mention for its high number of clinical projects in the pipeline. The report makes no attempt to rank the cities, as they are “simply too different to compare.” The regions were judged on “significant effort put into luring the biotech industry or encouraging biomedical research.”
