US Airways to open new non-stop route to Oslo

Now Oslo Airport Gardermoen has even more reason to celebrate its 10th anniversary of operations: US Airways recently announced that it will open a new non-stop route Oslo – Philadelphia, starting May 21st 2009.

According to the Norwegian daily Aftenposten, US Airways considered both Oslo Gardermoen and Copenhagen Kastrup, but chose Oslo based on the success of Continental’s Oslo - New York route - acknowledged as that airline’s most profitable in Europe.

Oslo Airport reports that US will fly Boeing 757s daily from Oslo at 1 p.m. Departure from Philadelphia is scheduled for 8.30 p.m.

US Airways is a member of the Star Alliance network. Ticket sales start Saturday October 25th 2008.
