Oslo Bio’s focus and ongoing projects:
MareLife
MareLife is most likely the first biomarine member organization to mobilize major stakeholders of innovation: trend-setting manufacturers and solution providers from farm and catch to retail, start ups and venture companies, R&D organizations, venture capital and public sector facilitators of innovation and commercialization. MareLife’s ambition is to become an internationally leading biomarine cluster through efficient networking of R&D environments with private and public sectors. The goal is to develop new products and solutions for members through promotion of knowledge and innovation. Representing the most abundant source of biodiversity on this planet, marine ecosystems will likely also provide a series of novel bioactive substances for cancer cures and prevention either on their own or through their derivates. MareLife also has world leading and trendsetting pharma companies among its members: Pronova Biopharma, Intervet, Aker Biomarine.

Oslo Cancer Cluster (OCC)
Oslo Cancer Cluster is a non-profit member organization committed to improve the lives of cancer patients by accelerating the development of new cancer diagnostics and medicines. We will be one of the world leading cancer clusters by 2013.
OCC was established in 2006 as a non-profit organization and a research and industry cluster, awarded Norwegian Centres of Expertise (NCE) status by the Norwegian government in June 2007, and provided with long-term funding.
Over 70% of all cancer research in Norway is done in the region of Oslo, and the Norwegian member companies in OCC has a large R&D pipeline with over 50 projects in preclinical and clinical phases.
OCC already has over 60 members, including academic research institutions and university hospitals, government, industrial companies, health initiatives and support groups in the field of biotechnology with the main focus on cancer.

Oslo MedTech Network
The MedTech Network in the Oslo region is a newly started collaborative network between medical/technical companies, R&D milieus and public regional policy instruments. The intention of the network is to strengthen the premises of the medical technology field in order to attain the best possible climate for research, innovation, investment, production and enhanced know-how. This will hopefully improve the conditions for the actors in this field and strengthen the interaction with healthcare institutions, position medical technology as a prerequisite for an effective health, care and help business for the medical technology to reach a global market. Several of the companies in this network are connected to cancer research.

Wireless Healthcare
Wireless Healthcare is an initiative to promote and stimulate the development and use of new applications with special focus on wireless systems and biomedical sensors. This technology can be used for monitoring people in need of care in the home, improving life for people with chronic and life-style diseases such as COPD, diabetes, stroke etc., and can be used in emergency operations. Two examples of Wireless Healthcare projects are “Test environments for new technology, products and applications” in cooperation with The Interventional Centre (IVS) at Rikshospitalet, and the “Biomedical Wireless Sensor Network” (BWSN), which incorporates sensors for cancer diagnostics.
