Main institutions of higher education in the Oslo region 

University of Oslo is Norway’s largest and oldest institution of higher education.

BI Norwegian School of Management is one of the larger higher education institutions in Norway and one of the largest business schools in Europe.

Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences (HiOA)
Norway's largest state university college, with a student body of approximately 16,000 students and 1,600 employees.

Vestfold University College is a medium-sized Norwegian university college with approximately 4000 students. It is located one hour from Oslo in the County of Vestfold. At Vestfold University College they offer Bachelor's degrees in social sciences and maritime studies and Master's and Bachelor's degrees in the fields of health, education and engineering.

Østfold University College offers 60 subjects of study at three regional cities - Fredrikstad, Halden and Sarpsborg. The college offers a steadily growing number of courses that can be studied as part of your home university degree. These courses are taught in English (alternatively: in German or French).

Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB)
 offers a broad range of study programmes that closely correspond with major research issues related to food, environmental sciences, biology, land use and natural resource management. UMB is Norway’s leading institution of higher education in its field.

The Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) is an autonomous institution within the Norwegian university system and one of the leading schools and research institutions in the field of architecture, urbanism, landscape architecture and industrial design in the Nordic countries.

Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KhiO) was established in 1996 through the amalgamation of five independent colleges – the colleges of art and crafts, theatre, ballet, opera and the academy of fine arts. These former colleges are now organised in three faculties: Faculty of Design, Faculty of Performing Arts and Faculty of Visual Arts.
