BI to offer Oslo-Singapore executive MBA in Shipping, Offshore and Finance

The new degree is being offered in collaboration between BI Norwegian School of Management in Oslo and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and will start up in January 2009.

- The program is part of our international commitment. The objective is to become a leading, global player in shipping and offshore education, says Jens Petter Tøndel, Executive Vice President Individual Programs.

- There is an acute demand for new employees in these industries, and the market is highly competitive. This program will combine the very latest research and theory with practical management skills, says Tøndel. An Advisory Board comprised of leaders from the industry will function as advisors and guest lecturers and ensure that the content is relevant to the shipping and offshore industry, adds Tøndel.

Professor Peter Lorange, former President of both BI and the International Institute for Management in Switzerland, has been recruited to help develop and manage academic content in the new program. Professor and former BI President Torger Reve will also play a central role. Reve currently heads the Maritime Competitiveness Research Centre at BI and holds the Wilhelmsen Chair. The 12-module program will run over 18 months, with half the modules being conducted in Oslo at BI and half in Singapore at Nanyang University.
