Norway ranked most prosperous country in the world

Norway comes out on top in The 2010 Legatum Prosperity Index, in which 110 countries has been assessed on both material wealth and wellbeing, acknowledging that prosperity is about quality of life as well as GDP and money.

Following Norway on the 2010 ranking is Denmark and Finland in second and third place. There are eight sub-indexes in the ranking: economy, entrepreneurship & opportunity, governance, education, health, safety & security, personal freedom and social capital.

The Legatum Prosperity Index is not purely looking for countries that are prosperous, the main assessment is on drivers of prosperity, identifying countries that have the right foundations for creating a strong economy and citizen wellbeing. The Index is published every year by the Legatum Institute, and Norway was top also in 2009.

The Legatum Institute is an independent, non-partisan organisation that researches and advocates for an expansive understanding of global prosperity. For more information, visit
