Oslo Cancer Cluster tops Europe with investment in new science park

With research, companies and education under one roof, the Oslo Cancer Cluster is set to become one of the leading European centers for cancer research.

Sweden’s largest biotech magazine, Biotech Sweden, has declared the new center in Oslo as Europe’s largest investment in cancer research.  According to Biotech Sweden, ”the Oslo Cancer Cluster, OCC, is a research and industry cluster focused on treatments and diagnostics of cancer. Today the cluster consists of over 40 members, including research institutions, life science companies, patient organizations and a university hospital.”

Bjarte Reve, CEO of the Oslo Cancer Cluster, says: ”Cooperation and transfer of knowledge between different actors is very important for a cluster. The best way to transfer knowledge is through personal meetings, so it is very important to have everyone gathered at the same place.”

Plans for the new center include a college dedicated to medicine, biotechnology, innovation and entreprenueurship. ”By integrating education into the science park we hope to secure the recruitment of well-trained talent, and thereby secure the long-term quality of research conducted here,” Reve concludes.
