Oslo at Expo 2010

Oslo participated as a partner in the Norwegian Pavilion at the World Expo in Shanghai. Several events took place during Oslo Week, 11-14 May, to promote Sino-Norwegian collaboration in business, research, higher education, culture and tourism.

Shanghai and Oslo have been sister cities since 2001. The World Expo in Shanghai will contribute to further strengthening the relations between Norway and China, and between Oslo and Shanghai.

“Better City, Better Life” was the theme for the EXPO 2010, which was open from 1 May to 31 October 2010. A total of over 70 million people visited EXPO 2010, and more than 240 exhibitors took part, divided in countries, regions and organisations.
The concept of the Norwegian pavilion is "Norway. Powered By Nature", which will focus on the urbanized man’s relationship to nature, listing sustainable urban development, energy, creativity and way of life as key words. As Norway’s capital, Oslo will was an important contributor to the Norwegian pavilion.
Oslo Teknopol was responsible for planning a program for business, research and higher education in Oslo, in close cooperation with key knowledge based clusters in the region, the City of Oslo, Norway at Expo 2010 and other relevant partners.
