Oslo climbs in European GDP

Oslo can now lay claim to the number two spot in Europe for GDP per capita.

GDP for Norway’s capital city is over three times higher than the EU average, and far above rival Scandinavian capitals. The latest economic figures from Statistics Norway show a GDP per capita of 75 210 Euros, reflecting the strong economic growth in Oslo. Only Inner London tops Oslo, with a GDP per capita of 76 053 Euros, according to figures from Eurostat (2008). The Oslo region, defined as Oslo and Akershus, is also high on the list, with 56 343 Euros per capita.
