Nor-Shipping is taking place in Lillestrøm, near Oslo, on 24-27 May 2011. In addition to the main conference, attracting professionals from the maritime industries worldwide, there will be a public event to showcase the Norwegian maritime cluster in the centre of Oslo, Nor-Shipping Campus.
Nor-Shipping Campus, at the City Hall Square, aims to encourage young people towards a career in the maritime industry, both at sea and on land, and to recognise the many opportunities and challenges facing the industry in the years to come. Key leading Norwegian maritime institutions will welcome thousands of students, politicians, media, the general public, and, not least, foreign visitors, to Nor-Shipping Campus.
Nor-Shipping Campus will also host the kick-off party for Nor-Shipping, one of the leading maritime events in the world, on Monday evening, 23 May, from 7pm. Another big happening at the pavilion will be the Brazilian party on Wednesday evening – coinciding with the Maritime Family Day, which is free and open to the general public.
The Nor-Shipping Campus pavilion will feature exhibitions from a cross section of the complete shipping value chain, including shipping companies, ship and equipment designers, classification companies, shipyards and manufacturers, shipbrokers, maritime educational institutions and seafarers’ organisations. Young employees throughout the Norwegian maritime cluster will explain their various work roles and the opportunities and challenges they face, giving visitors insight into the daily lives of our most international industry.
Oslo Maritime Network is heading up the steering committee for Nor-Shipping Campus, and Oslo Teknopol is the secretariat for Oslo Maritime Network.
