Since the first by:Larm held in 1998, the conference has been traveling around Norway from city to city before it first visited the beautiful capital of Norway, Oslo, in 2008. It was decided to remain in Oslo in order to accommodate the growing number of attendees and the need for larger venues and hotels.

by:Larm consists of two parts: a festival and a conference. The conference is a meeting place for the Norwegian and foreign music industries. A series of lectures, seminars and debates are held during the day. The festival concerts take place at night and are open to the public. Their main focus is to present Scandinavian artists on the verge of success, either in their homelands or internationally.
